Using a multi-disciplinary strategic approach to communications, RPPR has extensive expertise in public policy, issue-oriented assignments.
RPPR has represented both public sector and private sector clients in a broad range of public policy issues including transportation (relocation of international flights to Dorval), environment (multiple forestry issues for various clients), free trade (softwood lumber exports and countervailing duties) in both Canada and the U.S., education (Lester B. Pearson School Board) and healthcare, which includes some of our most important accomplishments.
In the latter sector, we were successful in representing the Lakeshore General Hospital during the public hearings process in 1995. At a time when the government had announced closure of 10 of 30 hospitals on the Island of Montreal, we succeeded not only in protecting the Lakeshore from closure, but in extending its current mandate with a $68 million capital expansion program.
In Hamilton, Ontario we were equally successful. During the Ontario Hospital Restructuring Commission, which resulted in the closure of more than 100 hospitals, we were involved with the successful merger and growth of the Hamilton Civic Hospitals, a major teaching establishment, with Chedoake McMaster Hospitals to create one of the largest health sciences facilities in Canada. During that process, not one of the five pavilions of those hospitals was closed.
We have extensive experience with the current municipal restructuring process. The City of Pointe Claire has been a client of ours for more than a decade. In the last three years we have also provided representation to Beaconsfield, Senneville, Baie dUrfé, Roxboro and Hampstead. In November-December 2000, we worked with all West Island municipalities to assist with the demonstration at Fairview and the December 10 event in Montreal.
We bring a strategic approach to communications which is focused, proactive and pervasive.
